NYE Party Decor Ideas
New Year Eve parties are usually a big deal for me. Especially since I was born in Russia. And if you know much about Russian culture, we make much bigger fuss about new years than Christmas ( not to mention that Christmas is celebrated on the 7th of jan). To me, New years celebration is the perfect reason to get my new years resolutions written down, get rid of old stuff, décor, close and/or furniture items and start fresh. New Years Eve party is the celebrating of new beginnings.
This year my partner will be with me, in Sydney, and we are doing rather touristy things (like having picnic at Daling Harbour all day, waiting for the fireworks) than getting drunk at some venue. Whatever you are planning to do on NYE check out some suggestions from my Health Blog

Holiday Decor For Lazy People, Minimalists or simply on a Budget
I am definitely being lazy this year and not going crazy on holiday decorations as i usually do. My family is pretty minimalistic in that sense too, a nice Christmas tree with pretty ornaments and fairy lights all over the balcony and maybe a thing or two here and there is all they usually do.If you are like me and will be celebrating Christmas at your family home but still want to add a festive hint to your own place then check out some of my minimalist ideas that will definitely help with dressing up the place a little bit. These simple techniques will be useful for people on a tight budget too.

Guy Sebastian's Holiday House
If you are from Australia the name of Guy Sebastian will ring a bell. The former Australian Idol just purchased and renovated a beautiful holiday house in NSW South Coast.
Guy said "I just thought 'It has to be about the view,' so I literally tore all the walls down."
The house is made for the new family to relax and unwind. I love the natural materials and stunning views with large windows, trendy pieces and a bit of chic that has been added by his wife Jules, a fashion designer. It has everything from old fashioned gaming machines to a home movie theater. Check it out!

Style Sunday - Hollywood Regency
Hollywood Regency is the classic Golden Hollywood decor and interior well known for it glitz and glamour. This style became popular in 1930s and still is popular in modern days.Hollywood Regency is an eclectic design aesthetic that combines luxurious materials with Asian-influenced accents.
This style is all about mirrored accents, lacquer, chrome accents, chintz, velvets and bolder colors. It's all about fringes, flair and details.
This style is all about mirrored accents, lacquer, chrome accents, chintz, velvets and bolder colors. It's all about fringes, flair and details.
Adding these elements to the modern style will do a trick it is all about glamorizing your space, large mirrors in a statement frame, contemporary art, Great Gatsby like wallpapers and rugs, lots of geometrical lines and patterns, well defined balance and proportion. Try adding glocy fabrics and paints, luxe velvets, expensive looking fabrics and plush. Mirrors play a huge role here as well as other reflective materials such a metalic bed side tables or dressers.Black and white stripes used in wallpapers or rugs are one of the signature elements of 1930s metallic are definitely playing a huge part in this decor. If you are not too keen on geometrical shapes in your decor try adding soft animal prints or floral patterns

Nina Campbell - Luxury Wallpapers
I am a big fan of Osborne & Little, their products and collaborations are absolutely amazing. I was so excited when I saw the new awesome wallpaper collection they have by Nina Campbell a well-know and respected interior designer ( my personal role model). What I love about Nina is that her designs appeal to both young and old, her style is just as much traditional and it is contemporary, her artwork is always elegant and very charming and her wallpapers are always high end and extremely good quality, definitely worth the price.
Today, I would like to show my favorite art works from her collection, to view full gallery please visit her website and be prepared to be blown away.

Color of The Week - Turquoise
Turquoise is my favourite color so you cant blame for writing this blog post :) Ofcourse having a turquoise room is a little bit over the top but throwing in some nice turquoise elements into your décor will do the trick. This color is seemed to be favourable by many so I am sure you will enjoy the collection of interiors I have found for you from all over the net.
I find turquoise to be very therapeutic. This is a color that recharges our spirits during times of mental stress and tiredness, alleviating feelings of loneliness. You only have to focus on the color turquoise, whether on a wall or clothing and you feel instant calm and gentle invigoration, ready to face the world again!

It is a great color to have around you, particularly in an emergency, as it helps with clear thinking and decision-making. It assists in the development of organizational and management skills. It influences rather than preaching and demanding.
Brace yourself its a huge collection and lots of turquoise!

Sissy+Marley Wallpapers
Sissy+Marley the New York Decorators just reliased their very own line of wallpapers specifically designed for kids bedrooms. The range is very cute and stylish, not too bright as the wallpapers you will normally find and with creative simple pattern. I think a lot of nurseries and kids rooms missing the beauty of simplicity and instead parents throwing lots of baby blues and barbie pinks and make everything as bright as possible, in my opinion its much nicer and calming for a child to tone down the room a little bit but still keep it fun and playful.
Anyway check out the beautiful range!

Go Creative This Christmas!
Why have another year of old fashioned Christmas when you can let your imagination ran wild and make this Christmas a holiday to remember. If the current trends that you can find HERE didn't impress you enough and you still in search of that extra something to impress or shock (in a good way) your guests then look no further! I found a perfect collection of inspirations for you that will satisfy your craving for a Christmas adventure!
Your Christmas tree doesn't have to be real...or plastic. Or green...or even a tree...And your theme doesn't have to be all green and red or even Christmassy in fact!
This post is all about your imagination and creativity. After all it is good to get out of your comfort zone once in a while. Give your space some personality even if it's gothic. Challenge the tradition by adding a specific theme. Go crazy I say!

Lea Michelle's Manhattan House
Country and comfort that is exactly what Lea's home is all about. It is an absolutely stunning bangalow in Western Hollywood filled with rustic wooden furniture, earthy and natural tones, moderate splash of colour, eclectic decorative pieces and her Barbara Streisand collection. The place is warm with a bit old fashion French country feel to it, looking at this home makes you feel like you are somewhere far away in the quite peaceful place somewhere in the country side, definitely a relaxing way of living.

Dream Boards, Mood Boards, Inspirational Boards and Other Pretty Boards
I wrote about Dream Boards on my Health Blog, you can read all about it HERE.
In fact Dream Boards can look pretty stylish if done creatively. Use hard board and magazine cut outs for yours, not only you can use the pictures of your dreams but also words and sentences. Cant find what you want? Print it off the net! Or create an online one and save it to your phone and computer. It is the best way to visualise goals and put together all your future achievements its easier to keep track of them this way.
You can have them all on my board or separate them by different category of goals/dreams and have them in different rooms. For example love and relationship board in the bedroom, money and career one in the home office.
You can also have mood boards for upcoming events and parties or even fashion moodboard if you are still in search of your own slyle. Actually it is a great idea! Put all the pictures of clothes and fashion shoots that you are absolutely inlove with that will definitely help you next time you are thinking of updating your wardrobe!
Or having an Inspirational Board with your favourite motivational quotes and anything that keeps you driven! Even just putting these quotes in a simple frame will do the trick ( I will have a YouTube video on that soon).
Now check out the way of styling your pretty boards and adding them to your creative space.

Christmas Decor Trends - 2013
Décor trend for this Christmas is full of gorgeous turquoise, greens, blues, browns, orange, saffron yellows, olds and metallic. Just a small step away from the traditional palette and you can create an absolute work of art and a cold winterie feel to your holiday room.
Christmas is a big deal to most of us and majority will always follow the tradional color palette and decorations. Why not do something different this year I am absolutely inlove with the picture I have on the left. How gorgeous is the white tree and blue/turquoise ornaments and decorations?! So very refreshing and still festive enough for a Christmas gathering!
So the current Christmas Décor Trends include:
No gnomes and elfs this year! It is all about the owl ornaments and patterns.
Owls on Christmas tree decorations, candles, pillows or simply as figurines will do the trick. Add some pinecones to it and anything that would represent forest.

Thanksgiving decorations
Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year.
American Thanksgiving traditions revolve around a huge and lavish meal, usually with Turkey as the centrepiece. As tradition has it in most families, a special prayer of thanks precedes the meal. In many homes, family members will each mention something they are very thankful for.
Apart from food, the biggest Thanksgiving traditions are football and parades. In ancient harvest festivals, people usually celebrated with games and sports, so you could argue the football tradition has very deep roots. Some people choose to express their gratitude by giving back to the community. Volunteer activities, such as helping out at a soup kitchen or at a shelter, are popular ways to spend Thanksgiving Day.
Thanksgiving is all about warm autumn colours, hot drinks, delicious warm food, family gatherings and autumn harvest that you can also use to decorate your whole house with for this special occasion. Hope my selection will inspire you.

Florence Broadhurst Prints
You probably have noticed these prints on pretty much everything these days, they are once again back in fashion! This gorgoues style comes in different colours, textures and appears on wallpapers, pillows, manchester, candels, rugs and so much more. You can add it to any interior for an extra chic or a touch of exotic. I have some beautiful varietions for you to have a look at. There is definitely something magicly old fashioned about this prints and the feel that they can created but freshly modern at the same time. You'll be the judge :)
So who is Florence Broadhurst and why this print is named after her.
"Years ahead of her time, the complex, eccentric and talented Florence Broadhurst was born in rural Queensland, Australia in 1899. By the time of her death in 1977 Broadhurst had lived and worked in Australia, Asia, and England; performed professionally on stage; been befriended by royalty; exhibited her paintings; and started an internationally successful wallpaper company whose success was based upon her own designs.

Jessica Alba's Non - Toxic House in Beverly Hills
Jessica Alba's kind way of living is a true inspiration me. I'd like to share an article about her taken from Domaine Home and share her gorgeous eco-friendly home and non-toxic nature made décor.
“I find that things that are mass-produced these days don’t have the touch that older things have," says actress and Honest Company founder Jessica Alba on Domaine. "I also like the story behind something, the fact that it’s had a life.”
My favourite room in her house is the nursery. Gone are the days when baby pink was largely used in little girl's bedrooms and Jessica incorporated variety of bright colours into this nursery. The bright turquoise tall boy is definitely my favourite, what a stunning room this is!

Metallic Trend
Metallics can make a quite a big difference to your interior. You can combine it with different styles of interior.
So here are the examples of what you should be aiming for when choosing to add metallic to your overall interior. Believ it or not it can look quite sophisticated and chic.
Rule 1 - don't go for cheap. Quality is the main factor here
Rule 2 - don't go for overly shinny fabrics.
Rule 3 -Moderation is the key. It is very easy to ruin the idea with overused glam and glitz.
Rule 4 - Be aware of direct sunlight or any other harsh lighting you have installed. You don't want your place to turn into shiny disko ball :)

Adding New Trends to Your Interior
Now the quickest way to freshen up your space is to change the colour on the walls or simply getting rid of old furniture items and adding newest trends in. Current trends for the season are bold floral. gold, geometric shapes especially honeycomb shapes, nature made materials and sea shells.
So my suggestions for you is to add one of these items or similar to any space you believe is in need of something new and exciting
Floral as a chic vintage statement

Awesome Halloween Ideas!
One of my favourite holidays is approaching! Oh how I wish Australia would recognise it's traditions like Americans do haha But even without trick or treating you can still decorate your house to the max, have huge party and impress your guests.
Halloween can be traced back to the Roman Catholics who celebrated All Hallows Eve (or Hallowmas), the day before All Saints Day celebrated on November 1 or back to the Celts who celebrated Samhain, when souls of the dead would return to the earth for one night a year.
According to the book “The Halloween Handbook” by Ed Morrow:
"In England during All Souls Day (or All Hallows Eve), a tradition similar to trick-or-treating existed; poor people would go door to do searching for soul cakes, which were sweet buns with currants in exchange for prayers for the household’s dead relatives.

Nicole Richie's Los Angeles Backyard
Nicole Richie is known for her scandalous career in the past and for her bohemian fashion style in the present. Ironically Nicole hates the term Bohemian she calls the style of her LA house 'relaxed and electric'.
The direction resulted in a vintage-meets-industrial makeover of the Moroccan-tinged outdoor area. It is not a secret that I am a huge fan of Moroccan décor and interiors so this backyard my personal 10/10, I particularly love the glimpse of turquoise combined with earthy colours, green garden and neutrals. Check it out!

Crazy Bookshelf Ideas
My all time dream was to have an in-house library, a whole room full of books and shelfs along the wall and a huge house. Or something compact and stylish if I were to live in a smaller apartment. I am not a big fun of E-books and I love the smell and feel of the real hard cover book and more than happy to sacrifice some space for it. Not to mention that huge selection of books displayed will give you and your chosen room a bit of sophistication and character (will make you look smarter too haha).
So for today's topic I'm choosing Crazy Bookshelf's Ideas if you have something to add to it please comment below.

Spring/Summer Colour Trends 2014
Spring - Summer 2014 Colour Trends are all about Harmony! It is all about harmonious living, nature and earthy colours. The colour palette of the upcoming summer season is rooted in the natural and the artificial, in the familiar and the unknown. There is no longer need to choose one or the other – the shape of things to come is defined by flexibility and acceptance, by complete harmony with all that is being offered.
I am a big fan of these particular palette as I do like to take a holistic approach to life and surroundings and to me they are earthy, harmonious, therapeutic colours. Nature lovers will appreciate the grounding feel this pallet brings.

Cameron Diaz Manhattan Apartment
"I blame my love of sparkly, shiny things on my Cuban roots. But I also wanted a place that felt very homey, very tactile"
You can't get more famous than Cameron Diaz and I must admit I wasn't surprised to see such Earthy and Sensual interior with oriental influence, it is so hard to picture I quite like the style though, right amount of modern classic and right amount of oriental. Her apartment in Manhattan's West Village looks warm and cosy. The color palette is the hues of burnished metals and lustrous minerals: malachite, onyx, rose gold, silver, and copper.

Pillow Talk - You Requests
My bed is covered in pillows and little decorative cushions. I'm a lover of oriental and Moroccan decors and cushions and these style tend to involve a lot of textured and sometimes very bright colored pillows that are used wherever is appropriate ( floors, sofas, beds, chairs etc).
So How many is too many question is really a matter of the decorative style you are going for and personal preferences of course. Don't forget to keep in mind your floor and wall colours, current furniture style and overall look of the current décor and interior of your place. Here’s a tip for choosing the right number of solid coloured versus patterned pillows. For solid pillows, go with an even number – 2 or 4 for example. For patterned pillows, choose an odd number – 1 or 3. Nobody knows why this works, but it does.

Style Sunday - Bohemian Chic
Bohemian is often described as “A person, possibly an artist or writer, who lives and acts free of regard for conventional rules and practices”. Accessories in bohemian rooms should tell the story of the people who live there. Ornate boxes, vintage bottles, maps, and mismatched china – you name it. Bohemians travel so the items in a bohemian room should look like they've been collected from the world over.
This particular style is very close to my heart as my mum is an artist, if all things artistic and creative touches your soul this style is for you.
Bohemian interiors are eclectic with no specific rules. They are artistic, playful, colourful, with vintage elements and care free feel. The most common type of furniture you'll find in bohemian rooms is Victorian in nature.

Wallpapers and Textiles by Matthew Williamson
British designer Matthew Williamson has turned his panache for prints into a collection of wallpapers and fabrics for luxe upholstery label Osborne & Little.
"Having my own interior design collection has long been an ambition of mine and I'm thrilled to finally see that ambition start to come to life," notes Matthew Williamson of his collaboration with Osborne & Little.
Williamson tells Vogue : "For me it was incredibly interesting to explore prints and textures which are so much a part of my brand DNA and translate them into interiors."
Williamson has gone to town on a diverse set of interior prints. Although this comes as no surprise from the designer who cites both India and the stalls of Manchester's Afflecks Palace as inspiration for his previous clothing.

How to Choose the Right Rug for Your Space - Your Requests
This post is a part of my Request a Blog Post section. This request came from our Instagram account and the request was on choosing the great rug
So here is what I recommend:
Before you decide to purchase a new rug for you space you need to look around and see what colour scheme you already have in your excising space. When styling your place the colour selection or the colours that already do exist are very important. Now having the awareness of the colour scheme you can either purchase a rug that will match all of these colours, 50% of the colours or maybe you want a rug that will complement only one colour in that room. Or maybe you want to do something different and make your new rug a feature of the room so selecting a colour that is completely different to your current colour scheme that would work really well if the space is pretty plane and neutral or has limited amount of colours (but then still try to balance it out by adding cushions of the same colour as the rug or any other accessories of your choice). Also when choosing a colour ask yourself; Do you want your carpet to brighten up a dark room or tone down a too-light space? So spend sometime analyzing what you already have! If you still don't know what colour to choose, then choose neutral!

If you still don't know what colour to choose, then choose neutral!

Style Sunday - French Country
From now on each Sunday will be dedicated to a different style of interior design and decor. I think it is a great idea in terms of educational purposes and also to help some of you to decide on a style of your dream home. There are so many ways you can renovate the space and decorate it but today I am going to choose French Country! No particular reason...it was the first style that came to mind :)) But I am sure there are quite a few French country chic lovers who truly admire the old French classics, pastel warm colours, wood, romantic mood and maybe some vintage pieces.
Interiors done in French country style always compliment the house. They look beautiful, relaxed, luxury, charming, elegant, and rustic. Some time ago this style was one of the most popular styles in the world and still is very popular. French country's color palette includes the greens, yellows, golds and reds of a garden. Fabric patterns generally feature white or beige backgrounds decorated by repeating images, like a motif of two people sitting under a tree or a country church.

Wallpaper on the Ceiling
Wallpaper your ceilings? Why not I say! I absolutely adore how it can diversify your space and add some funk or glamour to it...not to mention the bravery! Not everyone would consider this option as we are more used to the plain white ceilings and I guess it can be a risky decision sometimes too. As long as you know how to apply the wallpaper without it falling on to your head one day and you do have a great concept in mind (and perhaps consulted a professional about it) then your risk will turn in to a great success and your guests will be more than impressed.
Wallpapers are still in and you can use it as an accent for a single wall, a bathroom, a hallway. You can have it the same style as your walls or go for a completely different look, it is all about your imagination. But whatever you do remember that any wallpaper is a commitment.
Check out some awesome inspirations and let me know if wallpapers on the ceilings is a yay or nay for you! Definitely a yay for me! ;)

Leo Villareal's Light Works
I saw this quite recently although Leo's gorgeous and largest art work over San Francisco-Oakland's bridge was all over the news in march this year.
Leo's works are permanently featured in at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Brooklyn Museum of Art, and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York. So who is Leo Villareal? Leo born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is a pioneer in the use of LEDs and computer-driven imagery and known both for his light sculptures and architectural, site-specific works. ” In 1997, he programmed a 16-light strobe structure that he brought to Burning Man.
