Florence Broadhurst Prints

You probably have noticed these prints on pretty much everything these days, they are once again back in fashion! This gorgoues style comes in different colours, textures and appears on wallpapers, pillows, manchester, candels, rugs and so much more. You can add it to any interior for an extra chic or a touch of exotic. I have some beautiful varietions for you to have a look at. There is definitely something magicly old fashioned about this prints and the feel that they can created but freshly modern at the same time. You'll be the judge :)

So who is Florence Broadhurst and why this print is named after her.

"Years ahead of her time, the complex, eccentric and talented Florence Broadhurst was born in rural Queensland, Australia in 1899.  By the time of her death in 1977 Broadhurst had lived and worked in Australia, Asia, and England; performed professionally on stage; been befriended by royalty; exhibited her paintings; and started an internationally successful wallpaper company whose success was based upon her own designs.

Jessica Alba's Non - Toxic House in Beverly Hills

Jessica Alba's kind way of living is a true inspiration me. I'd like to share an article about her taken from Domaine Home and share her gorgeous eco-friendly home and non-toxic nature made décor.

“I find that things that are mass-produced these days don’t have the touch that older things have," says actress and Honest Company founder Jessica Alba on Domaine. "I also like the story behind something, the fact that it’s had a life.”

My favourite room in her house is the nursery. Gone are the days when baby pink was largely used in little girl's bedrooms and Jessica incorporated variety of bright colours into this nursery. The bright turquoise tall boy is definitely my favourite, what a stunning room this is!

Metallic Trend

Metallics are currently in weather its the cushions, ottomans, sofas or tallboys. Good quality is what you should be looking for because metallic fabrics of bad quality just like cheap sparkly fabrics can make you place look cheap and tastless.

Metallics can make a quite a big difference to your interior. You can combine it with different styles of interior.

So here are the examples of what you should be aiming for when choosing to add metallic to your overall interior. Believ it or not it can look quite sophisticated and chic.

Rule 1 - don't go for cheap. Quality is the main factor here
Rule 2 - don't go for overly shinny fabrics.
Rule 3 -Moderation is the key. It is very easy to ruin the idea with overused glam and glitz.
Rule 4 - Be aware of direct sunlight or any other harsh lighting you have installed. You don't want your place to turn into shiny disko ball :)

Adding New Trends to Your Interior

Now the quickest way to freshen up your space is to change the colour on the walls or simply getting rid of old furniture items and adding newest trends in. Current trends for the season are bold floral. gold, geometric shapes especially  honeycomb shapes, nature made materials and sea shells.
So my suggestions for you is to add one of these items or similar to any space you believe is in need of something new and exciting

Floral as a chic vintage statement

Awesome Halloween Ideas!

One of my favourite holidays is approaching! Oh how I wish Australia would recognise it's traditions like Americans do haha But even without trick or treating you can still decorate your house to the max, have huge party and impress your guests.

Halloween can be traced back to the Roman Catholics who celebrated All Hallows Eve (or Hallowmas), the day before All Saints Day celebrated on November 1 or back to the Celts who celebrated Samhain, when souls of the dead would return to the earth for one night a year.

According to the book “The Halloween Handbook” by Ed Morrow:
"In England during All Souls Day (or All Hallows Eve), a tradition similar to trick-or-treating existed; poor people would go door to do searching for soul cakes, which were sweet buns with currants in exchange for prayers for the household’s dead relatives.

Nicole Richie's Los Angeles Backyard

Nicole Richie is known for her scandalous career in the past and for her bohemian fashion style in the present.  Ironically Nicole hates the term Bohemian she calls the style of her LA house 'relaxed and electric'.
The direction resulted in a vintage-meets-industrial makeover of the Moroccan-tinged outdoor area. It is not a secret that I am a huge fan of Moroccan décor and interiors so this backyard my personal 10/10, I particularly love the glimpse of turquoise combined with earthy colours, green garden and neutrals. Check it out!

Crazy Bookshelf Ideas

My all time dream was to have an in-house library, a whole room full of books and shelfs along the wall and a huge house. Or something compact and stylish if I were to live in a smaller apartment. I am not a big fun of E-books and I love the smell and feel of the real hard cover book and more than happy to sacrifice some space for it. Not to mention that huge selection of books displayed will give you and your chosen room a bit of sophistication and character (will make you look smarter too haha).

So for today's topic I'm choosing Crazy Bookshelf's Ideas if you have something to add to it please comment below.

Spring/Summer Colour Trends 2014

Spring - Summer 2014 Colour Trends  are all about Harmony! It is all about harmonious living, nature and earthy colours. The colour palette of the upcoming summer season is rooted in the natural and the artificial, in the familiar and the unknown. There is no longer need to choose one or the other – the shape of things to come is defined by flexibility and acceptance, by complete harmony with all that is being offered.

I am a big fan of these particular palette as I do like to take a holistic approach to life and surroundings and to me they are earthy, harmonious, therapeutic colours. Nature lovers will appreciate the grounding feel this pallet brings.

Cameron Diaz Manhattan Apartment

"I blame my love of sparkly, shiny things on my Cuban roots. But I also wanted a place that felt very homey, very tactile"

You can't get more famous than Cameron Diaz and I must admit I wasn't surprised to see such Earthy and Sensual interior with oriental influence, it is so hard to picture I quite like the style though, right amount of modern classic and right amount of oriental. Her apartment in Manhattan's West Village looks warm and cosy. The color palette is the hues of burnished metals and lustrous minerals: malachite, onyx, rose gold, silver, and copper.
