Trends 2013

Welcome to Philosophy Deco blog!
Im gonna start my very first post with seven main interior trends for 2013! Hope you enjoy and don't forget to follow us!

1. Go crazy on The Yellow!

Yellow is the hottest new colour for accessories in 2013.

Serene pastels such as mint green, lemon and eggshell blue are also on the rise. Neutral colours will remain the best choice for walls.Use yellow pillows for your lounge area, add a nice fluffy yellow rag or art deco statues. Yellow kitchen appliances will look amazing and very energising in the kitchen. So go ahead! Don’t be scared to use yellow to it’s full potential!

2. Timber Flooring

One of the biggest trends in flooring for 2013 is laminate timber-look flooring, which has the appearance of timber without the price tag. Another new idea is stack panel timber feature walls.

 3. Digital printing on tiles

Digitally printed tiles which replicate the look of heavy stone are the next big thing.

Mosaics will also remain a popular feature tile.

Using this type of tiles in the kitchen, bathroom or laundry room will definitely add modern sophistication to the space.

4. Large lights

The must-have look in 2013 will be large pendant lights. They look great suspended over dining room tables, beds and kitchen benches.

LED lights are also growing in popularity. Also try using them in overhead kitchen cabinets as they spread the light all the way under the cupboards.

5. Space-saving cabinetry

Suspended or semi-suspended vanities will be the hottest trend in bathrooms as they look sleek and make a room appear more spacious.

Composite stone is the best choice for vanity tops.

6. Retro Kitchens

One of the biggest new trends in kitchens will be coloured benchtop appliances, such as toasters, kettles and mixers. Maybe try yellow?

Any retro decorations will go well in 2013 if used in the kitchen. Play with colours a little bit

7. The curtain

Curtains are back again. Look for bright patterns and colour stories in pinks, greens, eggshell blue, navy, taupe and white.
